I guess because the ent whores became bored with their rapey ways and fucked off, leaving the Treebeards to rape and pillage all the life in the forest. One such encounter being with a freshly ripened peasant fruit who was out collecting mushrooms in the forest. She spotted a nice looking clump and greedily ran her hands through the mushroom patch dreaming of a nice bowl of stroganoff. To her surprise the patch started to grow as if by magic, protruding further and further out of the ground. A loud deep sinister laugh bellowed through the forest, the peasant girl was trapped, surrounded now by the still growing mushroom patch. Laughing could now be heard in all directions, the ents were on the prowl.

Recipe for Savory Hand Bits This guy's hand, Olive oil, Garlic, Fresh thyme, Flaky sea salt, Freshly ground black pepper, Carefully wipe dirt from this guy's hand if necessary. Cut off stub and thinly slice lengthwise (the result are beautiful cross sections). In a large skillet, heat enough olive oil to cover the surface. Thinly slice garlic, cook in olive oil until just golden, remove immediately and set aside. Season with sea salt, freshly ground black pepper, and sprinkle with thyme. Sautée until the hand bits become golden-brown on one side, turn them over, and cook another minute or two until soft but with a bit of bite. To serve, sprinkle with a little more thyme and the pieces of crispy garlic.
