Today is England be awesome day Bono. America be great is every other day.

@Bono. Not quite on a couple of points. England and America never had a war to ascertain who would have won. It was more a bit of garrison scuffling. The language, science, civilization exported from this island had little to do with Empire. That was just rich man stealing more wealth and land. Its right much of it has been passed back to the people's it was stolen from. That is not the result of a crumbled empire, but an example of civilization. The English language is a gift to the world as part of that thriving civilization.

For me land owners arguing over land, while useing peasants to fight for them isn't a war its a feckin tragedy. At least from the American side there was a cause, a fight for independence we should all join should the need arise. I call it not a war on the Principe of using the destitute to fight over land on behalf of some wealthy cunt should never be glossed over in favor of a label as reductive as a war.
Tigeriger
I guess it depends on the situation. During. ww1 & ww2, the people's of britain signed up in droves to fight the Germans, it was their choice to fight the people's of Germany. In comparison, the people of britain did not choose to fight the people's of America. Endless stories of people being tricked into taking the kings shilling, bang you're in the army, or being brought before a judge on some charge or other, bang, sentence, you're in the army. Now you fight or you are hanged. In this sense there was never a war between the English and the Americans from our perspective, as it was a who controls some land argument between ruling elites. Can complex situations be reduced to 1 word, does 1 word convey adequately the situation ? Does it distract from what is / did happen with a simple reductive answer of war ? I think it should be referred to as a powerful psychopath causing genocide for his own gain. War does not quite do it, unless the people choose it.

After reading the comments that wasn't long-ass and serious. Sorry MD. There was no coming back after
"like honestly name something about england that the whole world knows about that IS NOT related to a crumbling empire or shitty food"
Always love a good Bash Merica' thread, but apparantly bashing Britain is even more fun.

I prefer to strengthen anglo-american relations, not break them down. We're cousins after all.

Could it be more of a war of ideology and culture. When Europe descends into chaotic multi-culturalism, the strength of a homogenous culture will hopefully destroy it.
Accused of insensitive comments toward the Japanese heritage (of war making, Hello Kitty, and anime).
