Thai people will rarely steal directly from you, you can easily leave your valuables or phone or whatever in a bar, while you head down to 7/11 for a sandwich. They won't steal, because stealing is wrong. Doing something wrong leads to loss of face, and losing face is worse then anything.
However, lying to you, scamming you, tricking you or getting money from you in any way that is not directly stealing, is NOT wrong, it just means they are smarter then you. They value smarts, but not high IQ, or wisdom, they value street smarts.
That is why they consider themselves super smart, even though most of them are horribly dumb and incapable of learning, while farang are just stupid buffaloes , because they let themselves be fooled. This is how this lady was able to pull that stunt on me, and everyone including the cops joined in on her side. In their mind, I was the dumb one and deserved to lose my money, they didn't do anything wrong and won't feel a shred of guilt.
Also, Thais are smart, falang are dumb, therefore Thai are always right, and farang are always wrong.

Yes I know it was just 500 baht, it was the principle of the thing.
I KNEW it wasn't worth 500 baht, certainly not 2000-3000. So it pissed me off how this hag was getting all angry at me, pretending I was a bad bad man and needed to pay. And all of the thais including the cops jumping in to help her.
Also, I noticed that I couldn't tip the thing over again unless I put muscle into it, so its like they wanted that shit to happen the first time. I barely grazed it.
lol CB, have been toying with so many ideas, like when I paid for that Mannequin I should have insisted on taking it with me. And yeah id love to go back and take my money back, or even go to the police and show them proof that its just worth about 150 baht.

Barret's War Journal #375onemillionand50 Final Entry
Once again I insisted that I'm not going to pay more then 200 baht, and I can go get the police myself if I have to. Bad news, they ended up finally getting the police. Good news, it was the tourist police so at least I wouldn't get beat up and arrested today. Maybe.
So one Thai guy showed up, he looked like a real policeman, and one farang white guy in some kind of police uniform too. As you probably guessed already, I ended up having to pay the damn 500 bath. It was either that or go to the police station to sort it out, and that would have been bad. The cops just said that they didn't know how much the damn thing costs so I should just pay.
The white cop seemed like he understood what was going on, but he couldn't do anything about it, the cops were useless, but at least he seemed understanding, so my impression of Tourist Police actually went up a notch.
After paying the 500 baht the thai cop was all smiles and shit, after seeming aggressive before. "Now everything ok?".
"No, everything not ok, this woman just bullshits me, she's a bullshitter, this thing does not cost 500 baht".
"No, you cannot say that" he said, apparently offended.
"Yeah she's full of shit, you guys are full of shit, and you know it". The white cop seemed to understand I was right, but didn't say anything. I kinda wonder what the whole deal is with those guys. There to be like diplomats or something?
Then they gave up and we all left.
In my opinion, the fucking pigs forced me to let myself be robbed right in front of them, then they wanted me to act all cheery about it. Fuck the cops man.

After debating this back and forth for a while, she kept insisting that a new one is 2000 baht. By the way I checked since then, and it costs from 80 to 200 baht new, but there was no way of knowing for sure back then. I just knew she was full of shit instinctively because she seemed like a typical fucking old Thai cunt like i've met so many times before.
I ended up saying that fine, we can go get the police, and they can decided what to do, thinking this would make her back off. Even saying that to a cop trying to fine you for a bribe might back off if you say "lets go police station". But not this hag. I also know that because this is walking street, the tourist police work here, which are nicer then the regular cops.
She sent someone to go get the cops, and they just came back with more thai guys instead, now they insisted the mannequin costs 3000 baht when new, and that I really should give her 500 baht.

Went in some random clothing shop looking to buy something, some employee came walking towards me, and I had to take a step back to let him pass, there was not a lot of room there, cramped. Apparently I touched one of the cheap plastic mannequins, I could barely feel it, it tipped over and it cracked a hole in one of the shoulders.
I immediately said that I was sorry, it was an accident, and then offered to pay the lady 200 baht in damages. If this was back home I know it wouldn't be a big deal, but its Thailand and people are poor so I figured why not be nice.
Her reply to that was a loud shrill "NO, U PAY ME 500 BAHT".
500 baht is not that much money really, like 15 bucks, but I knew that this shit is cheap, probably not more then 200 baht to buy a completely new one, and I'm getting tired of Thais trying to scam me all the time I consider it the same as theft. So I said no, she can have 200 baht or I go.
I figured maybe you really were that into freakporn. Usually I just have a meltdown and yell for everyone to shut the fuck up, or just leave the area. lol
Ok I only did the yelling thing one time...scared the crap out of everyone though. It ended the shrieking too.
I think the ones I hate the most are the old fat ladies, they are the most devious evil people around. Probably have a built in hate for white people after working as a hooker for many years in their youth, then becoming too old and ugly.
